MAT MAKES IT A TRIO OF TOP TENS
BTCC round three, Donington Park
17 May, 2009: Warwickshire racer Mat Jackson scored three top ten finishes at his home circuit of Donington Park today, driving for Racing Silverline in the third round of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Battling in wet conditions, Mat steadily improved his performance in the RML-run Chevrolet Lacetti, recording his best result of the weekend in race three when he crossed the line in fourth place. Having taken tenth in race one, when he also set the fastest lap of the field, and sixth in race two, the 27-year-old scored a total of 15 points. He now stands eighth overall in the championship results with a tally of 37, despite having missed the opening round of the season.
Mat commented: "It's certainly been a tough day: the foul weather made the track lively; my car's still carrying the late entrant ballast and it was only my second event in the RML Lacetti! Bearing all that in mind I'm pretty happy to have built my performance up over the day, which meant I only narrowly missed out on the podium in race three. It's frustrating, but I know I've got the pace."
In addition to making up four places with a cracking start in race two, one of the highlights of Mat's day was recording the fastest lap in the first encounter and being the quickest runner in the wet during race three. "It shows I can get the best out of the Lacetti, despite not having spent much time behind the wheel," he said. "With every race I'm learning more about the car and I cannot wait to head to Oulton Park. I want to go there repeat my round two victory!"
This was Mat's first weekend driving under the Racing Silverline banner, with his newly-liveried car also featuring the logos of Paul Castle Consultancy, Auto Windscreens and Pinnacle Transportation. Round four of the BTCC takes place on 30-31 May at Cheshire circuit Oulton Park.
