  Jacksons fully focused on '09

Mat Jackson and his Jacksons Motorsport team say they have every intention of fighting for the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship - despite the withdrawal of sponsor Accident Exchange.

Jackson finished second in this year's BTCC with backing from Accident Exchange which had added its support for his family's Independent BMW team leading to it being rebranded BMW Dealer Team UK. Due to the current economic climate, though, it has announced it is unable to continue as a sponsor next year.

That means the BMW Dealer Team UK name will be missing as a sponsor but the Jacksons Motorsport team fully intends being on the starting grid for 2009's opening BTCC rounds at Brands Hatch on 5 April.

Team principal Tony Jackson told btcc.net: "Jacksons Motorsport still very much exists and we fully intend being on the BTCC grid in 2009. It business as usual for us - we were there before Accident Exchange under our own team banner in 2007 and, as the saying goes, one door closes and another opens..."

He added: "It's of course unfortunate that we have lost Accident Exchange due to the current economic climate. It has been a very beneficial sponsor and we'd like to thank the company for all it's done for us in enabling Mat and the team to challenge for race wins and the BTCC title in 2008.

"We wish it well in its business battles and maybe one day in the future we'll be able to team up together again."
