2007: 7th in Dunlop British Touring Car Championship, 2 race wins, 1x2nd, 3x3rd, 1xfastest lap, 24xpoints finishes (from 30 rounds); plus 2nd in BTCC Independent Drivers' championship, 6 independent wins.
2006: Seat Cupra Champion with an unrivalled 11 race wins, tested SEAT's Leon BTCC race car, awarded £100,000 Champion's prize
2005: Runner-up in SEAT Cupra Championship with an unrivalled 8 race wins, 8 pole positions, 8 fastest laps in Jacksons Motorsport-run Cupra. Invited by SEAT Sport UK to test its Toledo BTCC car.
2004: Limited appearances in Britcar, with one class win in self-run Ford Focus.
2001: 4th in British Touring Car Championship's Production Class, 1 class win and 7 more podium finishes in GR Motorsport team's Ford Focus. Secured GR Teams' title. Mat also continued his studies that ultimately led to a GNVQ Advanced qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
2000: First season of saloon car racing. 4th overall in Renault Clio Cup, 2 race wins in Stancombe Engineering-run Clio Renaultsport 182. Received championship's prestigious Michelin Driver of the Year Award.
1999: First season of car racing. 2nd overall in Formula Honda single-seater category, 7 race wins.
1994-1998: Started karting aged 13. In '96, his first full season, won two club titles. In '97, became a regular rival in British JICA category to future DTM champion and McLaren-Mercedes F1 test driver Gary Paffett. Finished 6th overall and went on to qualify for European Championships. In '98, Mat earned a race seat with the leading O'Neill outfit in the British MSA Formula A kart championship.
